BUGS AND BIOLOGY

Aim

Bugs & Biology evolved out of an existing production group in the central Great Southern, when some members agreed that systems-based farming was the key to profitability of cropping and grazing enterprises. The group is largely self-funded and aims to attract resources including an executive officer to coordinate events, membership and promotion. The group is focused on gathering regionally relevant information to reduce the use of chemicals and fertilisers to protect soil biology while maintaining a profitable system.

The overall aim is to understand the underlying processes to restore biological function to improve nutrient base to soil - ie. specific information of cost-effective production strategies that work with our environment rather than against it.
